K-POP의 역사를 새로 쓴 월드스타 PSY

K-POP을 대표하는 월드스타 싸이가 현대카드 CITYBREAK 2014에 전격 합류했다. 싸이는 2012년 발표된 ‘강남스타일’과 2013년 발표된 ‘젠틀맨’이 연달아 국제적인 히트를 기록하며, 국내뿐 아니라 전 세계인들의 이목을 집중시켜 K-POP의 판도를 완전히 바꿔놓았다.

2001년 파격적인 노랫말이 돋보이는 곡 '새’로 데뷔한 싸이는 12년 동안 자신만의 독특한 음악적 컬러를 유지하며 대중들에게 사랑 받았다. '챔피언', '낙원', '연예인', 'Right Now', '흔들어주세요' 등 수많은 히트곡을 양산했으며, 국내외 다양한 뮤지션들과의 콜라보레이션도 지속적으로 선보여 왔다.

2012년에는 정규 6집 앨범 [싸이6甲 PART 1]의 수록곡 ‘강남스타일’ 뮤직비디오가 유튜브에서 센세이션을 일으키며 전 세계인의 관심을 끌었다. 이후 ‘강남스타일’은 영국, 프랑스 등 문화 강국의 음악 차트 1위를 비롯, 빌보드 HOT 100 차트에서조차 7주 연속 2위에 오르는 기염을 토했다. 싸이는 2012 MTV Video Music Awards 를 수상했을 뿐만 아니라 American Music Awards에 초청받아 MC 해머와 함께 공연을 펼치기도 했으며, 2012년 서울광장에서 진행된 무료공연에는 10만 여명의 관객들이 참석해 월드스타로서의 위상을 보여주었다. 이후 2013년 서울 월드컵경기장에서 열린 단독공연에는 4만 관객을 모으며 국제적 수준의 화려한 공연을 선보였다.

싸이는 이번 CITYBREAK 2014에서도 특유의 에너지 넘치는 퍼포먼스는 물론 자신의 히트곡을 총 동원한 압도적인 무대를 선보일 예정이다. 보다 많은 관객들과 호흡하며 서울월드컵경기장을 뜨겁게 달굴 싸이의 파격적인 무대가 CITYBREAK 2014에 대한 기대감을 한 층 높이고 있다.

Phenomenal K-Pop star PSY is joining the line-up of Hyundai Card CITYBREAK 2014. The international success of ‘강남스타일(Gangnam Style)’ and ‘젠틀맨(Gentleman)’ has changed what is expected of K-Pop and the attention K-pop is receiving across the globe.

Since his debut in 2001 with shocking lyrics and equally bizarre performances, PSY has maintained his unique interpretation of music for 12 years and is loved because of it. He has many hits to his name with ‘챔피언(Champion)’, ‘낙원(Paradise)’ and ‘Right Now’ amongst them. He also has been collaborating with national and international artists to develop his music further.

The music video for ‘강남스타일(Gangnam Style)’, the title track from his sixth album, was the YouTube sensation of 2012. 
The attention led the track to reach the top spot in UK, France and other international music charts as well as the number 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks. PSY even received a MTV Video Music Award and was invited to perform at the American Music Awards with MC Hammer. The open concert at Seoul Plaza in 2012 was attended by 100,000 fans as if to prove PSY’s K-Pop star status. The following concert in 2013 held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium drew an audience of 40,000 for a spectacular performance.

PSY will inject his energy into CITYBREAK 2014 with his array of hit songs and exciting performance. He is expected to breathe, play and have fun with his audience as part of this fantastic event.
